SP 023

Of the 23 prototypes built, 3 were shipped to the USA - 006, 022, and 023. Of these, only one - SP 023 - has been located.

SP 023 was built in 1994 and shipped to Charlie Ponstein, the original Superformance dealer in Chalmette, Louisiana,  who delivered it to Mitch Weinberg. The current owner - Bill Hagerup - purchased it in 1996 from Mitch. Bill has keep the car in original condition as delivered in 1992.

 

SP 023 has the Roadster body style, underbody exhaust, no roll bars, Roadster style hood scoop with no pop rivets,  bumperettes, and dual round tail lights.
SP 023 is painted solid red without stripes and has both a top and side curtains.

 

 

 

 

The interior features attractive but non-standard dash, steering wheel, vinyl covered drive train  tunnel, rectangular shift ring, and double hinged doors.

 

 

 

 

 

The drive train includes a nicely dressed 289 small block, a Borg-Warner T-5 5-speed transmission and a Ford 8.8 solid axle rear end with trailing link suspension and coil over shocks.
