Snake Skin
A Superformance Review

The article features Coupe 012 owned by Nigel Hulme of England. It is fitted with a 6.6L 510 horsepower Roush engine and a Tremec 6-speed transmission.

Early Second Strike readers (1998) will remember Nigel Hulme as the owner of CSX 2131, the 289 Cobra that won the GT class at Le Mans in 1963. CSX went on to become part of the Willment Team stable. Teamed with CSX 2130, it was raced successfully through the mid 1960s by Jack Sears, Bob Olthoff and other Willment Team drivers. With its strong and unique competition history, it is quite likely the most famous, most photographed, most documented, and most desirable of the 289 Cobra roadsters.

The article follows an "Imagine that Leonardo daVinci has the chance to repaint the Mona Lisa..." theme and concludes that,

"The Superformance Coupe is a thoroughly modern supercar - well worth its price tag - and that spiritual link to the Cobra. It was Brock and Negstadt's second chance to build a masterpiece under the snake's skin - something that would make even Mona Lisa smile."

Superformance started a trend 10 years ago, a trend to get replicars out of the garages and off the trailers and on the road where they can be truly enjoyed as they should be. This trend now dominates the industry. Kit Car Magazine has taken on a new look with a new purpose under its new editor that reflects the strength of this trend. It features a lot more coverage on the "driving it" aspects of the sport. Kit Car has also upgraded the quality of its photography and layouts as can be seen in the double page full color spread for the "Snake Skin" article. Coverage worthy of the car.
