SAY CHEESE!!! It’s time to dust the cobwebs off those snakes and hit the road. The first SPF road trip of 2005 is just around the corner. When: Saturday, May 7, 2005 Time: Meet at Cracker Barrel at I-77 and Hwy. 150 in Mooresville at 8:00 am for breakfast. We will leave the Cracker Barrel at 9:00 am SHARP. PLEASE HAVE YOUR GAS TANKS FULL BEFORE BREAKFAST. There is a Shell Station right at the entrance to the Cracker Barrel. Destinations First stop: Ashe County Cheese
factory and outlet store in West Jefferson. Next: Head for Blowing Rock via the Blue Ridge Parkway. In Blowing Rock, we’ll lunch at picturesque Chetola Lodge. Chetola Lodge sits in a park-like setting with gorgeous grounds and a private lake. Lunch will run approximately $15/person. Time and interest permitting, we’ll top off lunch with a stop at Kilwin’s Ice Cream in Blowing Rock. (Keep your eyes peeled for the guy on the Gold Wing with 3 little pugs along for the ride! He and his little companions are frequent visitors at Kilwin’s.) Then: We’ll waddle back to our cars and head on down Hwy. 321 to Lenoir, taking back roads to Mooresville.
