Rain Date: Saturday, May 14, 2005

Time: Meet at Cracker Barrel at I-77 and Hwy. 150 in Mooresville at 8:00 am for breakfast.

We will leave the Cracker Barrel at 9:00 am SHARP.

PLEASE HAVE YOUR GAS TANKS FULL BEFORE BREAKFAST. There is a Shell Station right at the entrance to the Cracker Barrel.

Destinations

First stop: Ashe County Cheese factory and outlet store in West Jefferson.
Bring a small cooler and plan to take some “squeaky” cheese home.

Next: Head for Blowing Rock via the Blue Ridge Parkway. In Blowing Rock, we’ll lunch at picturesque Chetola Lodge. Chetola Lodge sits in a park-like setting with gorgeous grounds and a private lake. Lunch will run approximately $15/person. Time and interest permitting, we’ll top off lunch with a stop at Kilwin’s Ice Cream in Blowing Rock. (Keep your eyes peeled for the guy on the Gold Wing with 3 little pugs along for the ride! He and his little companions are frequent visitors at Kilwin’s.)

Then: We’ll waddle back to our cars and head on down Hwy. 321 to Lenoir, taking back roads to Mooresville.

The overall trip is about 235 miles – give or take a few. A more detailed itinerary will follow.
