The Dragon with Dad

Craig Aylsworth SP 1265

And back on the Dragon, trailing in 1265, Craig and his 87 year old dad (Bob) are hanging on tight, determined to keep it between the yellow lines.

After partying a little too hard Wednesday night I made it up Thursday morning just in time for a cup of coffee and the cruise was on. Dad was protesting... He wanted his morning bowl of cereal, but no-can-do... gota roll.....

So up the trail we head taking the rear clean up position (this is where the BB's run in case we have to pick up someone that has broken down:-). Conservative for the most part, everyone trying to get a feel for the road, but as the gaps would widen, the attack was on! Run into the corner fast, hard on the brakes, make the turn and accelerate into the next! Wow what a blast! Pilot and Co in 1265 were grinning ear to ear...

At noon we made it to Deals Gap where FINALLY Dad could get FOOD! Geze, old people get particular about missing a meal LOL....

After woofing down great greasy burgers and fries we are off for round two.

Now everyone is feeling spunky... The ride to the Gap was the confidence builder and now the attack is really on! Now you can feel the lateral forces as the rubber starts to squeal around the curves. You could ease the load by cutting the corner, but no-can-do on the Dragon.... Thou shall not cross that yellow line... To see a biker coming the other direction with his steel knee pad sparking on the pavement gives you great appreciation for staying in your own lane. The speeds are getting faster and the turns tighter when Dad says "You better slow down". "Slow down?" I look over and see a green hue..... Oops... We are about to have a second taste of the not so great greasy burger.

I do slow down, but on the Dragon, even slow can bring back a greasy burger... Then I hear "you better stop"... I see Mike S. off the road ahead and pull in behind him. Mike was taking pictures of approaching cars. I figured that's why he was there... Truth is, he too had been attacked by the Dragon...

After a short rest we continued, but SP 1265 was in for leisure cruising.... I could turn ole Dad green once, but I need to get his confidence back... He will be my Co for the July Rumble in the Rockies.

A fantastic SCOF experience in the Smokey's
