From a theological perspective, the purpose of One Lap 2005 might be to demonstrate to we mortals that Hell might not be hot and dry. It just might be cold and wet. It was so cold and wet Thursday that the NASCAR boys a hundred or so miles further north in Darlington called off practice. But not One Lap. A wet track always stirs the pot and the heavy rain put two inches of water on the track in places. Dennis and the Coupe did well considering the water, but not finish in the top ten in either event. However, tthe car just ahead of the overall standings, the No 12 Corvette ZR1, finished way down. Our team is now in ninth overall and fifth in SSGT1 Big Bore. The rain helped for a change. After the first event, the wet skid pad, they were in 47th spot. It has been an amazing charge back into the top 10.
At this late stage, it is down to the top three cars, the No 1 Porsche, the No 2 Viper, and the No 24 Corvette. One Lap 2005 will not be won by the one who wins the next three events. It will be won by the one who doesn't screw up.
